WE CAN COME TO YOU
All of our programs are available at our location or yours. We will tailor a program to fit the needs of you, your clients, or your family. Each program is focused on the needs of your group. A sampling of our offerings is provided below. For more information please contact us.
Our programs for children with special needs have been created by highly trained and specialized teachers who understand child development and respect the differences in each child. Our teachers and support staff are professional, loving and creative. The children’s programs are developed with a focus on learning and fun, creating an environment where the children are free to develop and grow to their highest potential.
Through direct observation and informal study, the benefits of Yoga for children with special needs have become clear. Special Needs children respond positively to Yoga instruction at their level or ability to focus and concentrate. Additionally both fine motor and gross motor improvements have been noted. An increase in successful communication and the desire to build responsive and interactive relationships with others is also one of the benefits of the program. Children who practice Yoga tend to exhibit fewer symptoms of anxiety, develop self confidence, and have a calmer and happier outlook.
What is Yoga for Children?
Since 1997, The School of Complete Yoga has offered Yoga classes for children. This experience of teaching Yoga to children has shown great benefits to each child on many levels.

YOGA FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
Stephen’s Miraculous Progression
Stephen is a three year old child diagnosed with PDD/Autism Spectrum Disorder. He exhibits hypersensitivity in all of the senses. Transitions from one activity to the next are a challenge for Stephen at this time.
January 8, 2005
Stephen was very agitated coming into the first day of class. He clutched onto his mom as he came through the door. The sound of the door chimes was too much for him to tolerate. Stephen cried the entire class, perseverating on one idea (“I don’t like the door.”). He remained in this state the entire time.
January 15, 2005
Stephen cried and ran around the room the entire time.
February 5, 2005
Stephen ran around the room most of the time and then offered three Yoga poses. The mother reported that he is starting to do Yoga poses at home and asks for Yoga class.
February 12, 2005
Ran around the room, and then offered three Yoga poses. The mother reports that when he becomes agitated at home she says, “Stephen, do your Yoga poses.” He does this on his own and it automatically calms him down and balances his nervous system. He is now smiling and happier at home.
February 19, 2005
Stephen entered the room happy and smiling. He ran around the room one time and then came to the mats and offered over twenty Yoga poses consecutively by viewing photos of the Yoga poses. He also named each pose and picked out one at a time. He was so incredibly delighted with himself, saying “Stephen doing Yoga poses, Stephen doing good!” The mother reports his ability to concentrate and focus has improved. He is now capable of calming himself. When he is anxious or agitated he goes into the Yoga poses on his own. He is more confident. Mom joyfully reported that she is seeing so much improvement in such a short period of time; more than she has seen with any other traditional treatment Stephen has received.
